Overview

This tour takes you to 3 of the best parks in Kenya, from the Ol Pajeta conservancy, the home of chimpanzees to Lake Nakuru, the rhino sanctuary and on to one of the seven world wonders, the Masai Mara game reserve. It is a tour that will offer you a very good opportunity to view a variety of wild game and especially the big five.

Day 1: Nairobi - Ol Pejeta (3.5-hours Drive)

After breakfast we drive for approximately 3-4 hours to the Ol Pejeta, the conservancy boasts excellent game viewing with the largest wildlife to area ratio compared to any other Kenyan National Park. You will get to the ranch in time for a morning game and also early lunch at Sweetwaters Tented Camp

Ol Pejeta conservancy is located on the equator, between the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya. A game drive in Ol Pejeta will include a visit to Chimpanzee Sanctuary which provides a haven for orphaned, abandoned and rescued chimpanzees and Rhino Sanctuaries which provides a home to two of the world’s last remaining northern white rhinos, and a sanctuary for over 110 critically endangered black rhinos. Ol Pejeta is home to the “Big Five” and more than a thousand different mammals and bird species roam the wild.

Day 2: Ol Pejeta - L. Nakuru (3.5-hours Drive)

Rise early for breakfast, check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, stopping on the way for views of the beautiful Thomson Falls. Arrive in Lake Nakuru Lodge in time for lunch. Relax at your accommodation after lunch till 1600hrs for a late afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge
Lake Nakuru is a shallow alkaline lake in the Rift Valley renowned for its spectacular flamingo population. The lake is famed as one of the world’s greatest ornithological spectacles. Lake Nakuru National Park is home to zebras, gazelles, Rothschild giraffe, impalas, black and white rhino sanctuary and other large mammals.

Day 3: L. Nakuru - Masai Mara (6-hour drive)

Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast and drive further along the floor of the Rift Valley to Maasai Mara Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch. Enjoy afternoon game viewing and later on settle for dinner and overnight at Mara Simba Lodge.
The Maasai Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to comprehend. Indeed, over 450 species of animals have been recorded here! You will easily spot lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopards, many kinds of antelopes and elephants. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place; the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna; lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures.

Day 4: Masai Mara

Enjoy a full day game viewing with picnic lunch on the Mara River over-looking the Hippo Pools and the savannah. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Optional Activities:

  • Hot air balloon ride (US$450 per person)
  • A visit a local Maasai village (US$30 per person)

Maasai warriors are famously known as the proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with the wild animals are known across the world. A visit reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.
