Overview
From open desert scrubland and thorn bush to evergreen riverine forest and swamps that line the Ewaso Ngiro River, the diversity of Samburu is exhilarating. The park’s wildlife is diverse and regular interesting sightings may include the graceful reticulated giraffe, elephant, Beisa oryx, gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra and a variety of predators.
Day 1
Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve (320 km Approx 6-7 hrs)
Pick up from Nairobi, after a short safari debrief, you will drive north of Nairobi passing through the Equator and the majestic Mount Kenya en route to the open savannah of Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch; check in at your camp/lodge. After lunch you will have some time to relax before you go for an evening game drive. Come back to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Samburu: Full Day with Game Drives
Today you will spend the full day exploring the park. An optional cultural visit to the Samburu Village (at an extra USD 30 per person) is available later in the day. All meals and overnight at your lodge/camp
This safari aims at discovering the Northern part of Kenya (Samburu), predominantly occupied by the ethnic Samburu people of Kenya. Rich in culture and Wildlife, this is true wilderness and home to varieties of animals and birds rarely seen in other parts of the country. Here live the Beisa Oryx, Generuk, Grevy’s Zebra, the reticulated giraffe and Blue Shanked Somali Ostrich. All three big cats: lion, cheetah and leopard, can also be found here, as well as elephants, buffalo and hippos. Other mammals frequently seen in the park include olive babbon, warthogs, Grant’s gazelles, Kirk’s dik. This is called an unlimited game drive. Samburu is just one of those places in Kenya you want to enjoy a safari at next time you are in Kenya.
Day 3
Samburu - Nairobi: (320 km Approx 6-7 hrs)
After an early breakfast and morning game drive, depart to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon and later be transferred to JKIA for your flight back home or you will be dropped off at your pickup hotel. This is where your safari will end.
