A luxury lodge located in Amboseli, Kenya. Tawi Lodge is set on the south-eastern border with Tanzania overlooking the snowmelt Mt.Kilimanjaro.It is located in its own 6,000 acres Kilitome Conservancy, where the lodge’s guests have exclusive game driving and walking rights. Amboseli National park gate is only 10 minutes away. Guests get the best of both worlds. There are daily flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Amboseli Airstrip or by charter to Tawi’s private airstrip. It takes approximately 5 hours by road from Nairobi to Amboseli. . The main building sits in a grassy garden and ponds, overflowing with local plants and trees (a genuine oasis in the relatively dry Amboseli region) which is a big attraction ever-present on the grounds. The central areas are housed in a thatched, two-storey building which includes; the reception, lounge bar, dining area, and a gift shop. There is a library and a viewing deck with cozy chairs upstairs. Outside lies the dining area under a large covered verandah. Across the well-kept lawn is a swimming pool with a small ‘kiddies’ pool beside it. There is also a gift shop from where visitors can buy souvenirs. Tawi lodge consists of 13 cottages constructed of brick and thatch, part of the front wall of each cottage, including the ‘door’ and ‘windows’ is made of canvas, which means it can be completely opened up to make the most of the views. Each cottage has its own wooden deck veranda having a directors’ chair and sunbeds for relaxation.  Double or twin cottages, all have a lovely en suite bathroom with a Victorian bath and a spacious shower, a fireplace, and a personal bar. As an added personal service, a butler service is provided. All rooms have a large lockable wooden chest for the safekeeping of valuables. Cottage 7 is suitable for wheelchairs. Meals are a blend of African Swahili cuisine and European gourmet; 3-course lunch served as a buffet style and 4-course dinner. All meals are served at the main lodge dining room or in the garden. At sunrise, trays of hot tea and coffee are brought to your cottages, a perfect wake-up call before your game drive. Enjoy the wilderness with a picnic breakfast or lunch which are also available, with prior notice. Special dietary requirements are catered for on requests with prior notice. Activities for guests include; fantastic game drives in both Tawi Conservancy and Amboseli National park in open-sided vehicles with camera charging facilities (night game drives are available in the conservancy). Guests can also go on a hot air balloon safari viewing the stunning Amboseli below from above. You can stretch your legs by taking a guided bush walk and learn different animal tracks and signs, wildflowers, various plants, and shrubs. Bush meals and dining within the conservancy can also be organized not to forget sundowners, a lovely way to end the day. The lodge has lovely spots dotted over the conservancy to watch the sunset in a spectacle of color. Camp chairs are set, fire lit, and chilled drinks are served, all with Mt. Kilimanjaro as your background. For guests who wish to learn more about the Maasai culture, local visits to the Maasai community can be organized. Tawi has a small spa where you can be pampered between activities. The spa offers; massages, pedicures, manicures, and reflexology. Tawi lodge also has a unique bio pool with sunbeds overlooking the water hole, guests can swim and relax while enjoying the majestic views of Mt Kilimanjaro (weather allowing). Guests are advised to carry a lightweight jacket as it can get cold early in the morning or late at night.
