Overview

Samburu Game Lodge as the name suggests is situated within Samburu National Reserve. The landscape is rugged with jagged mountains forming the backdrop setting the scene for an authentic Kenyan safari experience.

Accommodation

Samburu Game Lodge has varying accommodation options ranging from luxurious cottages and bandas to twin and single rooms. The rooms are spread out along the bank of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Further classification of the rooms includes standard rooms, river rooms, and junior suites. All the rooms are well furnished and decorated.

Dining and Other Amenities

The main restaurant is open on the riverside and offers an array of cuisines to choose from with its daily changing menu. Samburu Game Lodge has three bars namely the Crocodile Bar, the Vulturine Bar, and a pool bar. The bars also offer views of the river.

To cool down in the heat of the Samburu wilderness, one can take a swim in the lodge’s swimming pool or relax in the jacuzzi. Further relaxation is offered at the lodge’s resident spa where a certified spa therapist is available.

Activities

Game drives on Land Cruisers with open roofs are the main activity. Samburu National Reserve is home to over 1,100 bird species and bird walks are also a popular activity. Finally, one can enjoy sundowners to cap an adventurous day on safari.

Itinerary – 3 DAYS SAMBURU SAFARI

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu

Pick up from Nairobi, after a short safari debrief, you will drive north of Nairobi passing through the Equator and the majestic Mount Kenya en route to the open savannah of Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch; check-in at your camp/lodge. After lunch, you will have some time to relax before you go for an evening game drive. Come back to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Samburu

Today you will spend the full day spent exploring the park. The highlights of the Samburu Game Reserve are the spectacular scenic beauty, rivers, and forests. It is an area where the local people have a rich and colorful heritage. The reserves have numerous permanent springs and a wealth of wildlife which includes leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, reticulated giraffe, Grevy zebra, and crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro river. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the reserve.

Day 3: Samburu – Nairobi

After an early breakfast and morning game drive, depart to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. This is where your safari will end.
