Basecamp Masai Mara is a tented, riverfront safari eco-camp situated along the Talek River amid the thick tropical forest vegetation just outside the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

The Maasai Mara, which has the highest wildlife density in the world, is well-known for outstanding Big Five game watching and the magnificent annual Wildebeest Migration.

By plane – It takes 45 minutes to travel from Ol Kiombo airfield to Basecamp Masai Mara, with the chance to see wildlife along the route.

By car – Basecamp Masai Mara is reachable from Nairobi by car. About five hours are required.


There are 17 tents with bathrooms at the camp. Each tent has a private balcony with a view of the riverbed and Masai Mara National Reserve, a king-size double bed or twin beds, a bathroom with bio-flush toilets and two solar-heated showers, one indoor and one outdoor safari shower.

Dining and Other Amenities

Take in the sounds of the wildlife across the river as you enjoy a meal made by skilled Maasai chefs. At the viewing deck of the camp, there is a private dining area.
