Overview

Ashnil Samburu Camp is a luxury tented camp set on the banks of Ewaso Nyiro River. Technically, it is situated in the Buffalo Springs Game Reserve which is separated from the Samburu National Game Reserve by the Ewaso Nyiro River. The ‘mighty’ Ol Olokwe Mountain forms the backdrop to this luxury camp which also offers s stunning vistas of the vast savannah.

Accommodation

Ashnil Samburu Camp has 30 exclusive luxury tents lined along the shaded banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. The banks of the river are shaded by doum palms. The tents are categorized as Deluxe Twin Rooms, Deluxe Double Rooms, and Deluxe Triple Rooms. Some of the amenities in the tents include hot water, shower, hairdryer, terrace, and a sunbed.

Dining and Other Amenities

The restaurant at Ashnil Samburu Camp firstly offers up a spectacular view of the surrounding savannah landscape. There are oriental menus, traditional menus as wells as international menus. A lounge bar is also available and has an African-themed decor. It is an ideal spot to unwind with its collection of drinks and can hold a party of up to 60 people. Bush meals, sundowners, and picnics can also be arranged upon request.

Sun lounges surround the outdoor swimming pool to give the lodge a tropical feel whilst in the wilderness.

Activities

Expectedly, the highlight activity at Ashnil Samburu Camp is game drives. Buffalo Springs Game Reserve and the wider Samburu National Game Reserve offer up a truly authentic safari experience with all the three Big Cats fairly easily spotted in the reserves among other wild animals.

Nature walks and cultural visits to the nearby Samburu Village are also featured activities at the camp.

Itinerary – 3 DAYS SAMBURU SAFARI

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu

Pick up from Nairobi, after a short safari debrief, you will drive north of Nairobi passing through the Equator and the majestic Mount Kenya en route to the open savannah of Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch; check-in at your camp/lodge. After lunch, you will have some time to relax before you go for an evening game drive. Come back to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Samburu

Today you will spend the full day spent exploring the park. The highlights of the Samburu Game Reserve are the spectacular scenic beauty, rivers, and forests. It is an area where the local people have a rich and colorful heritage. The reserves have numerous permanent springs and a wealth of wildlife which includes leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, reticulated giraffe, Grevy zebra, and crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro river. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the reserve.

Day 3: Samburu – Nairobi

After an early breakfast and morning game drive, depart to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. This is where your safari will end.
